Byrd looking for multi-year deal

The Texas Rangers announced Tuesday that they have offered salary arbitration to outfielder Marlon Byrd and catcher Ivan Rodriguez.

That means if Byrd or Rodriguez, both Type B free agents, sign with other teams, the Rangers would receive a supplemental first-round pick (between rounds one and two) in the 2010 draft. The players have until 11 p.m. Monday to accept or decline the offer.
