Spieth finishes first round with a 68

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas 16-year-old amateur Jordan Spieth, playing in his first PGA Tour event, shot a 2-under 68 and is tied for 17th place after completing the first round of the HP Byron Nelson Championship on Friday morning.

Spieth, a high school junior at Jesuit College Prep School in Dallas, is vying to become the sixth-youngest player in PGA Tour history to make the cut in a Tour event. The top 70 players and ties will advance to play during the weekend.
