Phil Costa out 2-4 weeks

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Phil Costa's chances of winning the Dallas Cowboys' starting center spot took a hit because of a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

According to sources, Costa's injury will not require surgery but he could miss two to four weeks, which would put his availability for the Sept. 11 season opener in New York against the Jets in jeopardy.

Costa did not practice Thursday after suffering the injury in Wednesday's practice.
