Rangers activate Nelson Cruz

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers activated outfielder Nelson Cruz on Tuesday, a little more than two weeks after he was placed on the disabled list with a Grade I strain of his left hamstring. But he did not play in Tuesday night's 10-4 win over Cleveland.

Manager Ron Washington said he plans on easing Cruz back into the lineup, likely as the designated hitter to start. For now, if Cruz pinch hits, Washington will insert a pinch runner for him if he gets a hit.
