Josh Hamilton undergoes tests

Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton was examined late Thursday afternoon in Philadelphia by Dr. William Meyers and had an MRI exam to confirm if he had a sports hernia, the results of which will be known Friday morning, the team announced.

The club said it is possible Hamilton could undergo surgery within the next 48 hours if it is determined he has a sports hernia. Meyers previously performed surgery on Hamilton in 2009.
