Crane extends Colonial ace streak

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Ben Crane fired a hole-in-one on the par-3 13th Friday morning, becoming the 23rd player to record an ace in the 63 years of official tournament play at Colonial.

Crane, who entered Friday's second round tied for 39th at 2-under-par, has made a charge up the leaderboard.

After his ace over the water on No. 13, Crane moved into a tie for fourth at 8-under-par.

Crane, 34, opened the second round with three consecutive birdies.

Crane, a resident of nearby Westlake, extended Colonial's streak to four consecutive years with an ace.

Dean Wilson did it last year on the 13th, as did Dustin Wilson in 2008.

In 2007, Brian Gay aced No. 8 and Rod Pampling aced No. 16.
