Feliz, 23, complained of a stiff shoulder during his start last Tuesday in Mesa, Ariz., against the Chicago Cubs. He was pulled an inning early as a precaution and has taken extra time to make sure the shoulder was OK.
It was was the first time he had thrown to batters since his early exit last week.
"I felt good," said Feliz through a translator. "Everything was OK. I wasn't trying to throw hard, just trying to keep my pitches down."
Feliz allowed three runs, though only one was earned, on six hits in four innings. He had one walk and three strikouts, and his fastball velocity increased as his outing progressed. Feliz touched 96 mph on the radar gun in his final two innings.
Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux and club CEO Nolan Ryan kept a watchful eye on Feliz as he threw on a back field on the Kansas City Royals' side of the Surprise complex.
"I think I'm ready for the season," Feliz said.
The plan is for Feliz to start Sunday against the San Diego Padres in the Rangers' final Cactus League game of the spring.
