Beaubois to fill Parker's spot for France

Dallas Mavericks guard Rodrigue Beaubois, who completed his rookie NBA season last month, was selected to play for the French national team that will compete in the FIBA World Championship in Turkey.

A spot opened up for Beaubois when San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker opted not to play for France this summer after enduring multiple injuries this season.

Beaubois played in 56 regular-season games and four postseason contest for the Mavericks, who were eliminated in the first round by the Spurs. He provided the Mavs with a spark in Game 6, scoring 16 points and grabbing five rebounds in 21 minutes in Dallas' season-ending defeat. In the regular season, he averaged 7.1 points and 1.3 assists per game.

The native of Guadeloupe is still expected to play for the Mavericks' summer league team in Las Vegas in July. The FIBA championships run from Aug. 28-Sept. 12.
