Cowboys Stadium to host BYU-TCU

Brigham Young and TCU will meet Oct. 28 at Cowboys Stadium in a game set to be nationally televised by ESPN2.

The game helps fill out TCU's schedule, which has yet to be formally announced. It replaces a scheduled BYU game at Louisiana Tech on Nov. 5.

Kickoff for the BYU-TCU game is set for 8 p.m. ET.

It will be the second time BYU and TCU have played at Cowboys Stadium. The Cougars played the first college game in the facility on Sept. 5, 2009, beating Oklahoma 14-13, and TCU opened its 2010 Rose Bowl-winning season there, beating Oregon State 30-21 on Sept. 4.

TCU coach Gary Patterson once flatly said that he would not consider playing BYU after news that the Cougars were leaving the Mountain West Conference leaked out last August.

"If you're BYU, you better be careful what you wish for," Patterson said in August. Four months later, TCU announced it would leave the Mountain West for the Big East in time for the 2012 season. Thursday, officials announced that the two teams would meet.

BYU and ESPN are entering the first year of an eight-year deal for the network to show all BYU home games and neutral site games where the Cougars are the designated home team. In addition to the TCU game, ESPN announced that it will air the Sept. 23 Central Florida-BYU and the Oct. 30 Utah State-BYU games at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.

LSU and Oregon will play Sept. 3 in the Cowboys Classic at the stadium as well. That game will be televised on one of the ESPN platforms.
