Penn State senior wide receiver Justin Brown has told Oklahoma coaches he will transfer and play for the Sooners, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad on Saturday.
Brown has one season of eligibility and can play immediately for the Sooners.
The wideout's name was dropped from Penn State's roster Sunday.
At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, Brown instantly becomes the biggest receiver on Oklahoma's roster. He was Penn State's second-leading receiver last season, grabbing 35 catches for 517 yards and two touchdowns. He was the Nittany Lions' most experienced returning receiver.
Brown ends his Penn State career with 1,047 receiving yards.
He was also dynamic as a returner, ranking 36th nationally in punt returns in 2011.
Brown, who visited Norman last weekend, plans to arrive in Oklahoma on Monday, the source said.
Brown will compete for a starting job immediately at OU. At the moment, the Sooners have only one non-suspended receiver -- junior Kenny Stills -- who has made a catch wearing an OU uniform.

Penn State's defense helped the Lions win four games when the offense couldn't score more than 16 points last year. With these transfers, the defense will have to lead again in 2012, writes Adam Rittenberg. Blog
Brown's arrival is good timing for Oklahoma, which announced Saturday that sophomore wide receiver Kameel Jackson has been dismissed from the team.
Since the spring, Jackson had been suspended indefinitely due in part to issues in the classroom. Earlier in the week, Stoops said that he would review Jackson's standing after Jackson completed the summer academic session.
ESPN's Joe Schad and SoonerNation's Jake Trotter contributed to this report.
