LSU and TCU will open their 2013 seasons against each other at Cowboys Stadium on Aug. 31, the Dallas Cowboys confirmed Tuesday.

The game, which will be nationally televised on either ESPN or ABC, replaces the home-and-home series scheduled for 2013 and 2014 between the teams. They will not play in 2014.

It also will mark the fifth straight season that the stadium in Arlington, Texas, holds a marquee matchup on Labor Day weekend. LSU beat Oregon in the Cowboys Stadium Classic in 2011, and TCU started the 2010 season with a victory against Oregon State.

LSU holds a 5-2-1 series edge over TCU, but this will be the first meeting between the two since 1968.
