Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby talks about the new, nonprofit sponsor of the Cotton Bowl and denies reports that the Big 12 issued an apology to Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy.
The Dallas-based nonprofit was announced Thursday as the sponsor replacement for TicketCity. The previous sponsor held the title the first two years for a game created to fill a void after the Cotton Bowl left its namesake facility for Cowboys Stadium in nearby Arlington.
The game on Jan. 1, 2014, will feature teams from the Big Ten and Conference USA.
"The Big Ten Conference is excited to partner with the Big 12 and Conference USA in the Heart of Dallas Bowl," Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany said. "We look forward to participating in this unique and charitable event in one of college football's most historic venues and applaud the individuals that helped make this vision a reality."
Heart of Texas was formed recently with a mission of raising money for community needs through sports and entertainment events.
