Vollers faces extensive prison time

DALLAS -- Former Cowboys and Colts offensive lineman Kurt Vollers has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

Vollers entered his plea in federal district court in Dallas on Friday. He will be sentenced July 23 and faces up to 40 years in prison and a $2 million fine.

Vollers pleaded guilty to conspiracy to sell more than 100 kilograms of marijuana.

The 31-year-old played for Dallas from 2002-04 and appeared in two games for Indianapolis in 2005.

Vollers' attorney, Rafael de la Garza, told Dallas TV station KXAS that his client is a "good guy who made a big mistake."
