IRVING, Texas -- Rookie fullback Shaun Chapas made a little bit more than $22,000 in his first game on the active roster last week at Arizona.

The NFL wants $20,000 of it.

The league fined Chapas for a blindside hit on a second-quarter punt return that led to a 5-yard touchdown catch for Dez Bryant. Chapas leveled Cardinals linebacker Reggie Walker on a 14-yard return by Bryant, however, Walker was chasing Bryant and seemingly involved in the play.

Chapas agent, Hadley Englehard, said his client will appeal the fine.

The NFL has made blindside hits a point of emphasis this year with player safety.

Chapas was not penalized on the play.

Chapas' fine was the largest drawn by a Cowboy this year. Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware was fined $15,000 for a hit on Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Wide receiver Kevin Ogletree and cornerback Frank Walker were fined $7,500 each for face mask and unnecessary roughness penalties against San Francisco and Miami respectively.
