Tony Romo changes agent

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has switched agents. Romo left Ken Kramer and recently signed with R.J. Gonser with Creative Artists Agency Sports. Gonser was a marketing agent for CAA Sports before deciding on being an agent.

Gonser needed to get certified by the NFLPA before representing Romo in any contract talks.

Gonser didn't return a call seeking comment and Romo was unavailable to discuss switching agents.

A few weeks ago, Romo, with two years remaining on his contract, held preliminary discussions with the Cowboys about an extension.

In 2007, Romo signed a six-year contract extension worth $67.4 million with $30 million guaranteed, but since then the contract has been amended for salary cap reasons. His base salary for 2012 is $825,000 and he's scheduled to make $11.5 million next season.

A few weeks ago, Romo was asked about his contract status and said, "I haven't even thought about it."

Through three games, Romo has completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 841 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions. He's been sacked seven times.
