DeMarco Murray's status uncertain

IRVING, Texas -- After missing two games with a sprained foot, Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray might need another week to recover and is uncertain for Sunday's game against the undefeated Falcons in Atlanta.

"We'll just have to see," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Monday. "It seems like he's moving around a little bit better. Again, that's an injury you have to be patient with. We don't want to rush him back, then take any backward steps. We'll see how he is day by day this week."

Murray did not play in Sunday's 29-24 loss to the New York Giants, but owner/general manager Jerry Jones had expressed optimism that his starting running back was close to returning after the Cowboys managed only 19 yards on 17 carries.

Felix Jones has struggled, rushing for 168 yards on 49 carries (3.4 ypg average) and two touchdowns. He also fumbled after running into his own lineman with 6:40 remaining against the Giants.

"Clearly, it looked like an awkward play," Garrett said. "Having said that, you've got to secure the football. You have to hold it high and tight and get a second hand on the ball. You can't let the ball come out."

In other injury news, inside linebacker Dan Connor, who started in place of Sean Lee, has a neck strain. His status for Sunday's game also is undetermined.

Defensive end Sean Lissemore, who is recovering from a high right ankle sprain, got the protective boot taken off Monday and he expects to do cardio work this week. Lissemore will need a few more weeks before returning.
