IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware said he will undergo surgery on his right shoulder Thursday but hopes he will be cleared to return to the field in time for training camp.

Ware was bothered for much of the season with a posterior torn labrum, which caused his shoulder to pop in and out of place.

It has not been decided whether Ware will have surgery on his hyperextended right elbow. The hope is that rest will help resolve the issue, but he could have a minor procedure performed later in the offseason.

Ware wore a brace over the final few weeks of the season to protect his elbow, but it sapped him of his strength.

Despite battling through the numerous injuries, Ware still managed a team-high 11.5 sacks, 72 tackles and 33 quarterback pressures this season. But he had just 2.5 sacks in the final eight games of the season.

Ware was named to the Pro Bowl for the seventh straight season, but he will not play in the game.
