Cowboys re-sign Ernie Sims

PHOENIX -- The Dallas Cowboys signed backup linebacker Ernie Sims to a one-year contract with a base salary of $715,000.

Sims was credited by the Dallas coaches with a total of 42 tackles, one sack and two quarterback pressures last season.

Also, Stephen Jones, the club's executive vice president, said the Sims signing means the Cowboys have "five figures" in cap room available.

Before Sims signed his deal Sunday, the Cowboys had $175,000 in cap space.

Jones also said the team is leaning toward using Kyle Wilber as the other starting linebacker.
