You can debate whether the Cowboys didn't get enough in a trade for the interior lineman, but the facts remain this team got a starter for a unit that struggled last season. If Bill Callahan is going to have more of an impact with the offensive line, then he should have a player he can trust to rebuild it.

If the Cowboys are really altering their offensive philosophy with two-tight end sets, then this pick makes more sense. If not, then they missed a chance to get better on the defensive line or safety. Escobar has terrific hands and could become a good red zone target as well but he needs work as a blocker. He will also be chasing ghosts of Anthony Fasano and Martellus Bennett.

The Cowboys got a receiver they gladly would have selected in the second round with the 74th overall pick. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound Williams, who led the nation with 1,832 yards on 97 catches as a Baylor senior, gives Tony Romo another big target with playmaking ability. He'll step in as the No. 3 receiver and could push pricey Miles Austin off the roster in the not-too-distant future.

He has good size, speed and is a physical tackler, but his lack of experience as safety is a question mark as he played on the offensive side of the ball in his first three college seasons. He'll have a chance to earn a starting job during camp as he'll be in the mix along with Barry Church, Matt Johnson and Will Allen.

This grade might change if Webb takes over for Orlando Scandrick in two seasons as the slot corner. He's cheaper than Scandrick, but we're not sure if he can play. The Cowboys say he's tough, can play both inside and outside at corner and he's not afraid to mix it up.

Todd Archer's take

Might be the best pick made by the Cowboys over the three days because of where they got him. They needed an every-down running back and not a third-down or change-of-pace guy because of DeMarco Murray's health problems, and they got one. Randle is not perfect, but he was productive and explosive. He had 43 touchdowns in three seasons and was not a fumbler. He can step in and play right away.

He's a converted safety who probably needs at least a season before seriously competing for the starting job at the strong-side linebacker. Holloman needs to make a major contribution on special teams right away to merit a roster spot. He was strongly recommended by special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia. His potential in pass coverage is also intriguing.
