Cowboys waive Lawrence Vickers
Fitzsimmons and Durrett
ESPNDallas.com's Todd Archer joins Fitzsimmons and Durrett to discuss Sean Lee, Gavin Escobar, Dez Bryant and more as Cowboys training camp nears.
Waiving Vickers saves the Cowboys $1.2 million against the salary cap. The Cowboys now have approximately $10 million in cap space.
Vickers, who underwent back surgery in April, became expendable because the Cowboys plan to operate out of two-tight end sets as their base offense. Dallas, which drafted tight end Gavin Escobar in the second round to complement Pro Bowler Jason Witten, will not have a fullback on its roster.
The 30-year-old Vickers played one season in Dallas, catching 13 passes for 104 yards while primarily serving as a lead blocker for an offense that ranked 31st in the league in rushing.
