OXNARD, Calif. -- Now entering his ninth season with the Dallas Cowboys, DeMarcus Ware has learned all the tricks to keep a body healthy during training camp.

He stepped his game up this summer. Ware is getting around the team's River Ridge complex in Oxnard, Calif., on a Segway.

Ware, who turned 31 on Wednesday, will take it from his hotel bedroom to the locker room and from the locker room to the meeting rooms. Although the walks are not long, Ware will do anything to save his legs.

"When it's off time, it's off time," Ware said. "I'm kicking my feet back up on the Segway and getting to where I need to go and not walking."

He has yet to share the Segway with teammates, but that doesn't mean they don't ask him to use it all the time.

"You've got to take a little class," Ware said, laughing. "I don't want anybody to get hurt."

Members of the Green Bay Packers have forever used bicycles of local kids to get to and from the practice field during training camp. Ware is using technology to help him.

"It goes fast," Ware said. "I like cruising. It's on 'turtle' right now. At home, I'll have it on 'rabbit' and it goes fast. Right now I just need to cruise where I need to go."
