Jason Hatcher sits out against Saints

NEW ORLEANS – A stinger kept Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Jason Hatcher out of Sunday night's game against the New Orleans Saints.

Hatcher did not practice during the week, and as late as Thursday he did not have much strength, but hoped he would be able to play had he passed a strength test before the game. Hatcher had played in 35 straight games. He missed three games in 2011 with a calf injury.

Hatcher has been bothered by a stinger for more than a month but aggravated the injury in last week's win against the Minnesota Vikings.

Jarius Wynn replaced Hatcher, who leads the Cowboys with seven sacks, in the starting lineup.

Miles Austin, Morris Claiborne, J.J. Wilcox, DeVonte Holloman, Darrion Weems and Andre Smith join Hatcher on the inactive list.

DeMarcus Ware made his return to the lineup after missing three games with a quadriceps strain. Ware was able to practice every day last week.
