MLS suspended FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea three games and fined him an undisclosed amount for deliberately kicking the ball at an assistant referee during a match Saturday.

"I know that my recent actions have let everyone down, but I will learn from this mistake," Shea wrote Thursday on Twitter. "I will use this time to get healthy and come back better than ever. Thank you for your support."

Shea will serve his suspension during the next three regular-season games, according to the league.

The MLS disciplinary committee also suspended Portland Timbers defender Mamadou Danso one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for striking Houston Dynamo forward Calen Carr in the head Tuesday.

Danso will sit out Saturday when Portland hosts Chicago.
