WEEKLY AWARDS

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tajuan Porter, Oregon

The 5-6 freshman from Detroit put on a show for the Ducks as Oregon won three games. Porter set a school-record with 10 three-pointers (he hit 10-of-12) while finishing with 38 points in a rout of Portland State. That performance came after Porter scored 27 points against Lehigh and 28 vs. Cal State-Northridge.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Ohio State

Playing without star center Greg Oden, the Buckeyes still won the BCA Classic championship. Ohio State beat Horizon League favorite Loyola-Chicago, defending MAC champion Kent State and VMI en route to the title. Ron Lewis earned MVP honors as he scored 18 points in the final.

COACH OF THE WEEK: Dave Leitao, Virginia

Playing in their new John Paul Jones arena for the first time, the Cavaliers rallied from a double-digit deficit to upset Arizona. Leitao's squad never gave up as Mamadi Diane and Sean Singletary combined for 50 points to key the win. Leitao's squad was prepared and had just 11 turnovers while hitting 29-of-38 free throws.

SHOCK OF THE WEEK: North Texas 90, Charlotte 72

There were a handful of surprises: Southern Utah winning at Utah; Cornell getting a victory at Northwestern; Southeastern Louisiana defeating Oregon State. The Mean Green came through at Charlotte, and did it easily. That came one day after Bobby Lutz's squad beat a solid Hofstra club. Johnny Jones' squad shot 54 percent from the field and also made 13-of-23 three-pointers.

DIAPER DANDY OF THE WEEK: Patrick Beverley, Arkansas

The 6-1 guard from Chicago hit 11-of-13 shots from the floor (six-of-seven on trifectas), scored 29 points, added four steals and four assists in just 28 minutes during the Razorbacks' win over SW Missouri State.
