PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Stephane Lasme, Massachusetts
He had a monster week in wins over George Washington and Temple. Lasme totaled 44 points, 26 rebounds and 17 blocked shots in the two victories. He had a triple-double against GW.
TEAM OF THE WEEK: Marquette
Tom Crean's squad scored a pair of impressive victories, winning at Connecticut while beating West Virginia at home. The Golden Eagles have shown toughness this season, especially in wins over Texas Tech and Duke earlier. Dominic James and company will make more noise in the Big East.
CO-COACHES OF THE WEEK: Seth Greenberg, Virginia Tech and Trent Johnson, Stanford
Greenberg celebrated an exciting double in little more than a week. Virginia Tech stunned Duke. Then a week later it took out then-No. 1 North Carolina. The Hokies also beat UNC-Greensboro in between. Johnson's Cardinal had wins over Washington and Washington State.
DIAPER DANDY OF THE WEEK: Kevin Durant, Texas
Durant is more than the best freshman in America. I believe you can make a case for him as Player of the Year as he continues to put up impressive numbers. He hit 10 of 14 shots from the field, scored 34 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and made almost half of the Longhorn baskets in a win over Missouri. Then he had 28 points and 13 boards against Oklahoma. Overall he shot 20 of 31 for the week.
SHOCK OF THE WEEK: Miami (Fla.) over Maryland
The Hurricanes stunned the Terps down at College Park, 63-58. Dwayne Collins scored 19 points to lead Miami. Frank Haith's team hit 14-of-16 free throws in the final 1:19 of the contest.
