Tourney All-Solid Gold

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

The first two rounds of the NCAA tournament are in the books. It is time to unveil my All-Solid Gold PTPers who are competing in the Sweet 16. My friends, this group has keyed a march on to bigger and better things, just two games away from a trip to the Final Four in San Antonio.

The Most Outstanding Player of the tourney so far is Davidson's Stephen Curry. He scored 70 points in two games, and every one was so important for the No. 10 Wildcats. I feel Curry's performance has been the best early-tournament effort in the last decade. The tandem of Curry and Jason Richards is one of the premier backcourts in college basketball.

Texas guard AJ Abrams has been a positive factor. He scored 26 points against Austin Peay in the opener and followed up with another 26 against Miami.

Tyrone Brazleton has been important for the surprising Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky. He's averaging 24 ppg. and five assists per contest, and none was more important than the dish to Ty Rogers for the game-winning trifecta against Drake.

Scottie Reynolds of Villanova has keyed the resurgence for Jay Wright's squad. He totaled 46 points in wins over Clemson and Siena.

Diaper dandy Kevin Love has made numerous big plays in helping the Bruins of UCLA. He's averaging a double-double (19.5 ppg. and 10 rpg.) while shooting 56 percent from the field in the first two games.

Ty Lawson of North Carolina is averaging 20 ppg. He has 11 assists and a big goose egg, zero turnovers so far in the big dance. Lawson has hit 13-of-18 shots from the floor.

The Lopez twins have had an impact in the tourney. Brook scored 30 in the win over Marquette. Robin is averaging 16 ppg, four blocks per outing and he's hit 14-of-19 from the floor.

There you have my elite eight players in the big dance so far. They would like to move on to the Elite Eight by this weekend.
