Let's talk about two prominent NBA execs named Jerry.
Say what you want about Chicago Bulls general manager Jerry Krause. Media people just blast him because he's an easy target. Speaking of easy targets ... hey, am I an easy target, baby? Nah!

| The NBA has been far from a Bull market for Jerry Krause since Michael Jordan departed. |
Yes, I've also been critical of Krause, especially over the trading of Elton Brand. I've always been a big Brand fan because I feel he represents everything coaches want. Brand comes to play, handles himself with class and is productive. He doesn't have to do that in a spectacular fashion.
I will always feel the Bulls made a mistake letting Brand go, bringing in two high school kids (Tyson Chandler and Eddy Curry) instead of one (Curry).
Having said that, let's give Krause his due. If there's a workout, he's in the front row observing it. If a prospect needs to be evaluated at a college game, Krause is there in the stands. He certainly has his own style and does things his way. You have to respect the fact that he's a hard worker.
The same can be said from a different standpoint about another Jerry -- new Memphis Grizzlies president Jerry West. He has received positive publicity, and it's well-deserved from his tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers.
West is that skilled in the personnel realm, and his workaholic presence in Memphis is already being felt. You can bet the Grizzlies will be much-improved in the near future.
I can assure you that both Jerrys will make their mark in this year's NBA draft. They will be present at the NBA workouts in Chicago. They will evaluate talent and make important decisions for their respective franchises.
I love the work ethic of the two Jerrys!
