Woods wins, Sonics struggle

Feb. 17
Dick's Stock Watch identifies whose stock is up and whose is down over the past week across the world of sports.

Tiger Woods -- Woods simply gets better and better. He came back from a knee injury and dominated again, winning in his first tournament of the season. Imagine if he had been healthy all along! Phil Mickelson has to see Tiger in his sleep!

Ernie Els -- Els has also been on fire. He won his fourth tournament in five tries, capturing the Johnnie Walker Classic overseas by 10 strokes!

Allan Houston -- Houston put on quite a performance Sunday night, scoring 53 points in a win over the Lakers. Hey, baby, 53 points is great in any league, CYO, rec league, but doing it against the Lakers and outdueling Kobe Bryant (who had 40) is special.

Brett Hull -- Congratulations to Detroit Red Wings' star Brett Hull on scoring his 700th goal.

Robert Hughes -- Here's a name you haven't heard much about ... Robert Hughes out of the Fort Worth area. He passed Morgan Wooten as the all-time wins leader among high school basketball coaches.

Gary Payton and the Seattle SuperSonics -- The Sonics are on a six-game losing streak. They started the season 8-2 and have fallen since. What has happened to them?

Tennessee State and Eastern Kentucky -- Shame on them for the brawl that took place on the hardwood.

New York Rangers -- They have a payroll around $80 million. When George Steinbrenner doles out the big bucks, his teams usually win. The Rangers may have a hard time making the playoffs again this season.
