The University of Cincinnati made a great move bringing in The Big O -- Oscar Robertson -- to be part of the Bearcats' coaching staff. He's certainly one of the brightest stars ever to play the game, and the first word that comes to mind when I think of him is CLASS!
Robertson was named the interim head coach for his alma mater until Bob Huggins returns on Aug. 27. Huggins is serving a university-mandated suspension related to his drunken-driving conviction.
|Oscar Robertson's attitude and presence will benefit the Bearcats.|
The Bearcats needed to find a replacement for Dan Peters, who joined coach Thad Matta's staff at Ohio State as an associate head coach.
The Big O was multidimensional on the court, and he's been a success off it as he's made the transition to the real world as a giant in the corporate realm. The great things he's accomplished on and off the court couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!
Robertson brings a wealth of integrity and basketball knowledge to this situation. He'll help develop these young men in all aspects of life. Robertson won't be recruiting off-campus, but his mere presence has to be a major plus for potential PTPers!
Any time a player of his stature helps out, it has to be considered a plus. I believe Cincinnati would be wise to have Robertson involved with the program on a full-time basis. He's a tremendous asset and would be a benefit to the Bearcats in any capacity.
