James Burkhardt
Entering Texas A&M in the fall of 1953 on a full ride football scholarship, he graduated from Texas A&M in June 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering.

Upon graduation reported to work for Amoco Production Company in Odessa, Texas, and remained with Amoco for eleven years in various staff, supervisory and managerial petroleum engineering positions. Joined Cotton Petroleum Corporation in March 1969 as Vice-President, Production and Engineering. Became a Director in 1971, Executive Vice President in 1973 and President in 1976. Joined Santa Fe Industries as president of Santa Fe National Resources in January 1979.

In late 1980 founded Burkhart Petroleum Corporation as Chairman, President and CEO. Remained until Burkhart Petroleum sold in 1987. At the time founded BRG Petroleum, Inc. in Tulsa, Oklahoma and served as Chairman, president and CEO until company sold in mid 1988. Re-established BRG and now serve as Chairman of the Board.
