Kiss that 24-game losing streak goodbye

March, 13, 2009
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Baylor's victory over Texas was a long time coming, but it couldn't have been sweeter.

Baylor clawed back after trailing most of the game to claim a gritty 76-70 victory over Texas, charging into Saturday's Big 12 championship for the first time in school history as the Bears snapped a 24-game losing streak to the Longhorns that dated to 1998.

The Bears finished on a 16-5 run that was punctuated by clutch foul shooting as Baylor hit 11 of 12 shots in the final two minutes to salt the victory away.

The Longhorns converted only 1 of 6 foul shots in one stretch late in the game. Those misses provided just enough of a window to enable the Bears to climb back into the game.

Kevin Rogers led Baylor with 20 points. Henry Dugat added 17 points and LaceDarius Dunn 16 for the Bears, who claimed their third victory in three nights after finishing the regular season by losing 10 of 12 games.

A.J. Abrams paced Texas with 20.

I'll have a lot more on this one after visiting the Baylor locker room.
