Jayhawks pulling away

March, 22, 2009
MINNEAPOLIS -- Kansas has beaten Dayton at its own game, and the defending national champs are on their way to the Sweet 16 in Indianapolis.

Dayton might be known for its defense, but Kansas has been the far superior defensive team, especially inside. Sophomore center Cole Aldrich has wiped out anything in his path, recording his first career triple-double (13 points, 19 rebounds, 10 blocks). What a homecoming for the Bloomington, Minn., native.

Sherron Collins (23 points) continues his brilliance, and sophomore Tyrel Reed provided a much-needed second option on the perimeter after halftime. Dayton is lost on offense and spent on defense, and will struggle to eclipse its lowest points total of the season (45).

This one has turned into a rout, as the Jayhawks lead 55-36 with 3:49 left. Kansas is growing up fast, people.
