Play in the trenches key in intrastate rivalry

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The quarterbacks, Tom Brady and Bill Burke, have impressive numbers. Still, when Michigan and Michigan State meet, it's usually the running game that decides the outcome.

That could be the case Saturday when No. 3 Michigan (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten) faces the 11th-ranked Spartans (5-0, 2-0).
