Ray Allen was an All-America selection and the 1996 Big East Player of the Year at Connecticut.
He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the fifth overall pick of the 1996 NBA Draft and immediately traded, along with center Andrew Lang, to the Milwaukee Bucks for point guard Stephon Marbury, the fourth overall choice.
