JERSEY CITY, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Umpire Rick Reed admitted he made a big mistake that cost a team a game. So did New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine.

Minutes after Reed missed a pivotal call, Bernie Williams homered in the bottom of the 10th inning tonight to give the New York Yankees a 4-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox in the opener of the American League Championship Series.
