Penske's arrival will raise the bar

Roger Penskes expected departure from the ranks of CART to the Indy Racing League is not a clear cut advantage for the IRL. On the surface, it might look so, but closer scrutiny identifies some potential issues that could adversely affect the six-year-old series.

Without question, Penskes marquee value boosts the IRL percieved importance in the open wheel world. His stable includes CARTs current champion Gil de Ferran and the Indianapolis 500's reigning winner, Helio Castroneves.
