Shaw stays home as talks with Cubs break off

PEORIA, Ariz. -- Jeff Shaw has decided that being closer to home is more important that being the closer for the Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs couldn't reach an agreement with Shaw to replace the injured Tom Gordon, general manager Andy MacPhail said before Tuesday's game against San Diego.
