The harm in environmental extremism

Even respectable environmental groups are not immune to the shrill cries and unfounded claims of extremists.

In the aftermath of Sept. 11 — as all Americans retouched their values, examined their attitudes toward others, renewed their faith in freedom and the human spirit — I wondered if we might see a new day in our approach to America's environmental ills. Terrorism is only one way to destroy America. Another way is to let America sink under its own environmental excesses.
