Els explodes back in contention

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Ernie Els slept on a 3-footer for par Friday night.

That's where he left Augusta National on Friday, when the second round of The Masters was halted by torrential rains.

"That wasn't the way I wanted to start," he said.

But he made the par, then went on a tear Saturday morning to complete the round. Els birdied the 13th and 14th holes, eagled No. 15 and birdied the 16th to get to 7-under and third place heading into the third round Saturday afternoon. He shot ...
