Bucs acquire Leaverton in deal with Jets
The Tampa Bay Bucs on Tuesday moved to address their need for a punter by acquiring David Leaverton from the New York Jets in exchange for wide receiver Jonathan Pittman.
Although the deal appears to be a minor transaction, it could have major implications for Tampa Bay, which lost punter Mark Royals last week in free agency. Royals, an unrestricted veteran, signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins.
