AHL approves transfers of inactive teams

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The American Hockey League Board of Governors announced Monday that two inactive franchises will play the 2002-03 season in San Antonio and Binghamton, N.Y.

The board conditionally approved the sale of an inactive AHL franchise owned by the Detroit Red Wings to San Antonio Hockey LLC, a joint venture of the NBA's San Antonio Spurs and the NHL's Florida Panthers.
