Brewers plan to appeal three-day suspension

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brian Mallette was suspended for three games and fined Friday by the commissioner's office, which said he intentionally threw at Cincinnati's Austin Kearns.

Brewers manager Jerry Royster said the suspension and a $1,000 fine would be appealed.

In a game at Cincinnati on May 8, Mallette gave up a two-run homer to Reggie Taylor in the seventh inning, then threw inside on the next pitch, knocking Kearns down.
