Former Irish players surrender to face rape charges

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Four former Notre Dame football players surrendered to authorities Tuesday to face charges in the gang-rape of a female student.

Donald Dykes, Justin Smith, Lorenzo Crawford and Abram Elam were released on $3,000 bond each after their bonds were reduced Tuesday. All initially had faced $10,000 bonds except for Crawford, whose bond had first been set at $50,000.

All declined to comment Tuesday outside the St. Joseph County Jail.
