'Canes intent on postponing Detroit's playoff party

Detroit is bracing for a Stanley Cup celebration after Game 5. And that's just fine with the Hurricanes.

DETROIT -- A day off in Carolina made Detroit look all the much better to Hurricanes coach Paul Maurice. Or at least it seemed that way.

Maurice and his lovable band of underdogs steamed into Hockeytown on Wednesday and were greeted by a city preparing for its big moment. The Red Wings are up 3-1 in the Stanley Cup finals and the buzz bouncing off the factory walls and rumbling through the People Mover all centered on a Detroit win Thursday night.
