O'Brien pulls out of 400 with sore left foot
BERKELEY, Calif. -- Dan O'Brien's left foot was not quite ready for the decathlon comeback he had hoped to make at the U.S. Championships. Neither was his attitude.
In third place among 16 competitors after the first four events of the two-day, 10-event decathlon, O'Brien dropped out before the 400 meters Wednesday because of his painful foot.
O'Brien also admitted he was having a hard time getting motivated.
