Greene is expected to play in Eugene on Tuesday

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres agreed to terms Sunday with first-round draft pick Khalil Greene, a shortstop who helped lead Clemson to the College World Series.

Greene is expected to join short-season Class A Eugene of the Northwest League in Vancouver on Tuesday.

Greene was drafted in the 14th round by the Chicago Cubs last year but didn't sign and returned to Clemson, where he hit .470 with a team-record 27 home runs and 91 RBI. Greene hit safely in 34 straight games.
