Rulebook disregarded by George, IRL

It was no surprise Tony George upheld Helio Castroneves' victory in the 2002 Indianapolis 500, but we did get a few revelations Wednesday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway:

1. Paul Tracy and Barry Green's team wasted their time and money appealing the outcome.

2. Neither side agreed on what the appeal was about.

3. The Indy Racing League rulebook apparently got a quick rewrite during the past five weeks.

4. George's lips moved, but it was really IMS publicist/spin doctor/ventriloquist ...
