Rumors plagued Unser's CART career

CLEVELAND -- Al Unser Jr. was the topic of conversation among drivers, owners, manufacturers and officials here all weekend as they mixed their compassion with concern.

Unser, arrested last week in Indianapolis for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend while under the influence of alcohol, spent 17 years in CART building respect, friendship and an impressive resumé before losing his ride with Team Penske and moving to the Indy Racing League in 2000.
