Exempted tournaments suffer major setback

Exempted tournaments were dealt a major blow Friday when a federal judge ruled in favor of the NCAA and denied the motion for a preliminary injunction on the 2-and-4 rule for the 2002-03 season.

Exempted tournaments were dealt a major blow Friday when a federal judge ruled in favor of the NCAA and denied the motion for a preliminary injunction on the 2-in-4 rule for the 2002-03 season.

Judge Edmund Sargus of Columbus, Ohio, ruled that he wanted to see if tournaments like the ones in Las Vegas or New York would actually fold if the 2-in-4 rule remained for the third of four seasons.
