Crew hold on after strong start

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Brian McBride scored in the 34th minute and the Columbus Crew went on to a 2-1 victory over the New York/New Jersey MetroStars on Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

The Hunt Cup is the oldest annual soccer competition in the country. The tournament dates to 1914 and is open to all affiliated amateur and professional teams in the United States.
